Our goal is to ensure that all participants, staff/volunteers and community partners remain as safe as possible. We are working diligently to plan for and utilize safety measures according to city/state mandates and health recommendations related to COVID-19. Race format is subject to change including a possible cap on in-person registrations to accommodate health and safety requirements. Please check back on our website and social media for the most current event details.
Are the courses USATF certified?
No, none of the race courses are USATF certified.
Can I walk the entire Half-Marathon, 10K or 5K race?
Walkers are welcome in the 10K and 5K races, however, due to course closing time and other race support needs, we no longer allow participants to walk the entire half-marathon race.
Are there race refunds?
There are no race refunds or discounts available.
Can I switch the race I signed up for?
Yes. Race switches can be made until June 10 through our Contact Us form on our website. Please include your registered name and the race switch details in your message. After June 10, race switches can only be made in person during early packet pick up on Friday, June 17.
If I have registered and cannot run, can someone else run in my place?
No. Due to liability, timing and additional logistical issues, only the registered participant can run for themselves in the event.
What is the elevation and terrain of the courses?
All courses are virtually with one minor incline and little elevation changes. Specific elevation details can be found on the race route maps. The 5K and 10K courses are primarily concrete with very small sections of gravel and crushed limestone. The half-marathon course is split between sections of concrete and gravel and crushed limestone.
What if I have to use the restroom?
There will be porta-johns available at the race start/finish area and at other select locations on the course.
Can I push my child in a stroller?
Yes, participants can push a baby stroller or racing stroller in the half-marathon, 10K and 5K races. For safety reasons, these participants are asked to start the race behind all other runners and be sure to keep right at all times while on the course.
Should I bring my own water or sports drink?
Yes, definitely! Water along the course will be limited. Runners are strongly encouraged to carry their own water or hydration supplies. It is up to you to provide yourself with the tools you need to keep properly hydrated. Bottled water at the start/finish line will be available.
Can I run with my iPod?
Participants are allowed to use iPods, MP3 players, radios, and other similar devices. However, we encourage participants to do so with caution and use at appropriate volumes for safety and to better enjoy the course entertainment and race atmosphere.
Is this race chip timed?
All races are chip timed except for the Kids Fun Run.
What kind of weather can I expect?
Norfolk, Nebraska typically sees mild to moderately warm and occasionally hot weather in June, with the city's average monthly temperatures ranging between 82°F and 58°F. To ensure proper hydration, it is recommended that participants drink early and drink often. In the event of severe weather, specific instructions will be announced at the race start/finish area as well as communicated to runners and volunteers along the course.

In addition to COVID-related safety measures, to participate and stay safe, please check out and obey our safety rules:
- Running with a dog or other pet is prohibited. No skates or skateboards allowed.
- Participants wishing to push a baby stroller or racing stroller are asked to start the race behind all other runners and keep right at all times while on the course.
- Participants planning to walk an entire race are asked to start behind all runners.
- iPods, MP3 players, radios, and other similar devices are allowed, however, for safety reasons and to better enjoy the course entertainment and atmosphere it is recommended to refrain from using.
- For your safety, please stay on the designated course at all times and be mindful of traffic. Pay attention and follow directions from course volunteers and police officers.
- Race officials reserve the right to remove any runner from the course for medical or any other valid reason.
- We discourage spectators from bringing pets. However, if a spectator accompanying you brings a dog to the race site, please be sure it is leashed at all times and kept well clear of the start/finish area and off the course. Spectators must stay off the course for their own safety and for the safety of the runners.
- Be mindful of potholes and other debris or variations on the course.
- Motorized and three-wheel hand-cycle chairs are not permitted in the race.
